Hellenic News & Happenings, by Judy McCleery

Breakfast – the most important meal of the day they say. Actually, we agree, which is why The Hellenic has become a North Fork breakfast destination, as locals and visitors alike rediscover serious breakfast.
The Hellenic takes all the ingredients that are typically breakfast staples, waves a magic wand in the kitchen and produces meals that make a foodie salivate. Actually, George says that there’s no magic, just insistence on fresh high quality ingredients. Organic eggs and real butter, along with fresh vegetables and fresh fruit (from local farms in season) are the foundation for the omelets, egg platters, and other breakfast favorites The Hellenic serves. And George pays special attention to the special dietary restrictions by noting on the menu anything that is Gluten Friendly (GF) and Vegetarian (V).
If ever there was a time to call breakfast decadent, your visit to The Hellenic is it. Housemade Polish cheese and raisin babka is transformed into French toast in the dish called “The Ultimate FT.” Of course, you could order the Classic French Toast, but do you really want to pass on the babka? Slather it with real butter, top it with pure maple syrup (no imitations here), and dip some of the bacon or sausage you ordered on the side.
If you prefer your mornings to start with more protein, then order an omelet or a made-to-order custom frittata, with up to three items on the add-in list. The cheese selections include feta, goat, saganaki, and haloumi offered alongside the cheddar, American, and Swiss nod to The Hellenic’s Greek cuisine, and if you have never had Dolma, rice stuffed grape leaves, wrapped in eggs, here is your chance. Once you decide on your preferred cheese, choose your veggie to make this omelet the fuel you need to get through the day. Asparagus and roasted red peppers are two of the tasty options that add variety to the standards. And of course, egg-whites-only are available too.
Wait there’s more! Channel your inner Goldilocks and order The Hellenic’s Organic Scottish Pin Oats. If you think you don’t like oatmeal, then you haven’t tried The Hellenic’s. It’s cooked to order and served with blueberries, maple syrup, raw sugar and cream, all on the side so you can make it “just right.” There’s also hotcakes, and eggs made your way – even expertly poached.
There is a good reason The Hellenic’s Breakfast Menu leads with Wagyu Hash. Chances are you will choose this hearty, delicious meal made with Wagyu Kobe corned beef, German potatoes, a few vegetables, topped with poached eggs. Served in a Greek restaurant, it’s like the United Nations has come to the North Fork!
Even the coffee and tea have a flair of the gourmet. Frappe, a hand-frothed Greek iced coffee, Greek demitasse and Numi® organic teas await, along with juices – including pineapple, and chocolate milk for the kids and the kid in all of us.
And it’s the kid in all of us that the Hellenic’s breakfast will appeal to most. Simple ingredients found at every Sunday morning breakfast table, but prepared so everyone will enjoy, and keep you coming back for more.
The Hellenic serves breakfast on Sundays and Tuesdays 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
